The flight from Gatwick was good, uneventful and passport control was a breeze with a friendly man welcoming me to his country.
My bus ticket was not booked for the right time slot, but the driver smiled and allowed me to board. At the train station it was another story. Three people later, plus a new ticket, I made my way to the platform. I was talking to a group of ladies that just completed the same route, which was great and gave me a lot of tips. On the train, the two gentlemen shaked their heads, pointed to my ticket and the destination of the train, and the two did not match. Luckily the train was going to the right place, Vigo – but my ticket was not. So I bought another one. I feel happy that I have now contributed to the wealth of the Spanish rail system.
The view from the train was amazing!

Arriving at Vigo, it was me, tired eyes and Google. Things looked good and then we came to the mountain – with the hotel on top! To be honest, the mountain continues after the hotel, but I rested a few times on the way. Luckily I was motivated by the biggest “Oom Sarel” peaches I have ever seen, and the lady kindly came out of the shop to serve me, since me and my suitcase could not fit in the shop. I have now learned, you look confused, they print the receipt and you hand over the money.
The hotel is lovely, and after a rest, I organised the luggage for the rest of the trip (based on recommendation of Tui Trans by the kind American ladies). It only took 2 people and an online screen shot to order my “meat burger”, and chicken fingers that turned into cheese, but I am happy – tomorrow I am seeing 2 of my sisters.
